Canadian travelers now have a new option to escape to the beaches of South Florida with the commencement of Porter Airlines nonstop flights between Montreal and Fort Myers. The service opened last Friday and will operate up to four times weekly on the very comfortable Embraer E195-E2 jets, with a convenient afternoon departure from Montreal.

Porter has the only nonstop service on this route

On November 29, Canada’s Porter Airlines (Porter) launched a new seasonal route between Montreal Pierre Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers. Porter is the only operator to offer nonstop services between the two airports, bringing seamless connections to Fort Myers and the broader Southwest Florida region.

On Friday, the rotation started in Fort Myers when flight PD570 departed RSW at 11:56. The Embraer E195-E2 took 2:54 hours to travel to Montreal, landing at Pierre Trudeau International at 14:51, with the return flight PD569 departing YUL at 16:46 and arriving in Florida at 20:08.

The new seasonal route will operate up to four times weekly on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Porter is bringing plenty of opportunities for Canadians to travel to Florida, as it recently launched services between Ottawa International Airport (YOW) and Tampa International Airport (TPA) and Fort Myers Southwest Florida International Airport.

The route between Ottawa and Tampa will operate up to four times weekly on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The Ottawa flights to Fort Myers RSW will be up to three times weekly on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, with all of these services on the 132-seat Embraer E195-E2. Porter Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Office, Edmond Eldebs, said:

“We’re excited to bring nonstop service between Montreal and Fort Myers, making it easier for travelers to connect with Southwest Florida’s beautiful beaches and vibrant attractions. The new route highlights Porter’s commitment to expanding our network while delivering an elevated experience for economy travelers.”

Porter Airlines has spent the last 18 years redefining what an economy class experience should be, using modern aircraft with a dedicated team

The Porter difference is obvious

Most airlines work hard to differentiate themselves from the competition, and a good place to start is by offering nonstop flights to popular destinations rather than connecting through a hub that can significantly lengthen overall traveling time. Another way is to offer lower fares in return for reduced onboard service, so for passengers looking for point-to-point services and a quality onboard experience, Porter is an excellent choice.

Every passenger traveling with Porter enjoys an above-average economy experience that most low-fare airlines charge extra to deliver. Porter guests will enjoy complimentary beer and wine served in glassware, free premium snacks, fast and free onboard WiFi, in-seat power and no middle seats on any flight.

Passengers who want to elevate the experience can opt for PorterReserve fares, which provide an all-inclusive experience. This offering features fresh and healthy meals, pre-mixed cocktails, dedicated airport check-in, early boarding, enhanced legroom and more. These extras are also available a la carte for passengers traveling on PorterClassic fares.

Porter has the right fleet for its strategy

According to data from ch-aviation, Porter has a fleet of 71 aircraft, including 29 De Havilland Dash 8-Q400 turboprops and 42 Embraer E195-E2 jets. The Dash 8s are Q400s configured in a 2×2 layout of 78 seats, with six PorterReserve and 72 PorterClassic seats. The Embraer E195-E2s have a three-class layout of 132 seats, including 16 PorterReserve, 20 PorterClassic Stretch and 96 PorterClassic seats.

The fleet’s average age is 8.0, although the De Havilland turboprops average 14.8 years compared to the Embraer jets’ average age of 1.1 years. The listing also reveals that Porter has 33 more E195-E2s to be delivered. The airline has developed a fleet that is ideally suited to its mix of domestic and trans-border routes and suits its strategy of affordable fares with a high-quality customer experience.
