The Redding City Council is set to review a proposed agreement on Tuesday, Dec. 17, to establish new air service between Redding Regional Airport and Denver International Airport through a partnership with United Airlines.

To expedite the process, city officials said the council will consider authorizing the City Manager to negotiate and the Mayor to sign the agreement, ensuring swift and efficient progress.

The agreement includes a $2 million minimum revenue guarantee to support the new service, according to the city, which is funded through a partnership between local public agencies, businesses and nonprofit organizations.

“This new route is an integral part of the City’s commitment to advancing economic development opportunities,” Assistant City Manager Steve Bade said. “Direct flights to Denver will open up access to additional markets, attract new businesses and bolster tourism in our region.”

According to the city, the proposed flight route aims to provide a vital East Coast connection, catering to the leisure, recreational and business travel demands of the Redding area. Pending City Council approval, the air service is expected to strengthen Redding’s position as a hub for both personal and professional travel, enriching the quality of life for its residents.

The meeting will be held at the City of Redding Council Chambers on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 6:00 p.m. Community members are encouraged to attend and learn more about this significant addition to Redding Regional Airport.
