Dubai International Airport (DXB) expects to process more than 5.2 million passengers between December 13 and 31, 2024.
In a press release, published on December 12, 2024, DXB Airport officials estimated that an average of 274,000 travelers will pass through the airport each day during the busy winter holiday season.
December 20, 2024, is expected to be the busiest day, with nearly 296,000 guests. The weekend from December 20 to 22, 2024, is also estimated to be busy, with around 880,000 guests passing through.
“Delivering the exceptional experience that DXB is known for during peak travel periods is always a challenge, but one we are well-prepared to meet with collaboration across DXB family,” said Essa Al Shamsi, Senior Vice President of Terminal Operations at Dubai Airports.
This season’s traffic surge “reflects Dubai’s global appeal, with visitors drawn to its shopping, dining, and entertainment offerings”, as well as the “city’s winter weather”, the press release continued.
Dubai Airports, which manages Dubai International (DXB) Airport and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC) Airport, issued tips for travelers during the peak period, recommending passengers check in early, streamline their process by putting metal items and electronics in hand luggage, and use smart gates.
Additionally, airport officials advise travelers to “organize travel documents, check baggage allowances, and familiarize yourself with your airline’s regulations to avoid surprises.”
During the holiday period, it is expected that 1.7 million people will arrive in Dubai, while 1.5 million will depart.
