Shanghai Airlines launches new route to Kuala Lumpur, enhancing connectivity from Jilin and Shanxi provinces, boosting Malaysia-China tourism ties.
KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA – Tourism Malaysia’s Deputy Director General (Promotion II), Mr. Lee Thai Hung alongside representatives from Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) and Shanghai Airlines welcomed 150 passengers on board flight FM813 that arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport from Changchun, capital of Northeast China’s Jilin province via Yuncheng of Shanxi province.
Shanghai Airlines, a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Eastern Air Holding Co Ltd currently operates seven days a week flights to Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu, three days a week to Penang and this new service travelling via Yuncheng will run every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday using Boeing 737-800.
The introduction of this new flight will provide passengers in Jilin and Shanxi provinces with more convenient air travel experience to Malaysia.
As of October 2024, Malaysia has welcomed 2,822,247 arrivals from China, an exponential growth of 139% in comparison to the same period in 2023 with 1,180,980 arrivals. Malaysia is currently targeting to receive 27.3 million international tourist arrivals with RM102.7 billion in tourism receipts in 2024.
