Passengers looking to fly between the United States and Ireland will have more options in 2025, with United Airlines deciding to boost its flights to Dublin. The carrier has significant plans for the summer season next year, which includes many international destinations, including those in Europe. Dublin, too, has seen more interest from the US, with other carriers, such as Delta Air Lines, also boosting their flights to the destination.

United to offer more capacity on Dublin flights

United Airlines
has enhanced its capacity on Dublin routes for 2025. The carrier will make some tweaks to its flight frequencies as well as fleet strategy for its flights to Ireland. All of this is part of United’s larger summer expansion plan for 2025.

The airline’s service between the United States and Ireland will see an increase of more than 40% next year. Its flights connecting Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Dublin Airport (DUB) will get a significant boost, increasing from once daily to twice. This will be done on March 29, 2025.

Furthermore, United will also deploy its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft for flights between Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and Dublin. Currently, the carrier operates daily flights from its primary hub of Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Dublin using one of its Boeing 767 planes.

It also operates daily between Washington, D.C., and Dublin, deploying the Boeing 757 on this route. While these are year-round services, United Airlines also offers seasonal services between Shannon and Newark and Chicago O’Hare. BTN Europe quotes Karolien De Hertogh, United’s director of sales for the UK and Ireland, as saying,

“For summer 2025, our customers in Ireland can also benefit from seamless connectivity via our hubs in New York/Newark, Chicago O’Hare, and Washington DC, to or from over 150 onward destinations across the Americas.”

Dublin gets more US flights

Dublin is well connected with the United States, thanks to several routes offered by the Irish flag carrier, Aer Lingus
. Legacy US carriers, United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and American Airlines also offer services to the Irish capital from some cities.

According to aviation analytics company Cirium, all the above-mentioned airlines will offer almost 1,300 return flights between Dublin and various cities in the US in December. Aer Lingus alone will fly to several major airports, including New York JFK, Chicago, Newark, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Boston, San Francisco, Seattle, and Orlando, among others.

However, the carrier will expand further into the United States in 2025. Its seasonal flight to Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) started in October and will continue until April 29, 2025.

However, the carrier also announced flights between Dublin and Nashville International Airport (BNA), and Indianapolis International Airport (IND) for next year as well.

Delta Air Lines, too, will add a new flight to Dublin from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW). The carrier announced this service in September this year and will start flights between the two airports in May 2025.

United Airline’s plans for 2025

The summer season is huge for all US airlines as passengers flock to some of the most sought-after destinations worldwide, particularly in Europe. United’s plans to double down on the Dublin route align with that trend.

But Ireland isn’t the only international destination getting more love from United. A few months ago, the carrier announced its

significant plans for summer 2025
for destinations in Europe, Africa, and Asia.

By summer 2025, its largest-ever transatlantic schedule will include destinations such as Bilbao, Faro, Nice, Nuuk, Madeira, Palermo, and Venice.

From May 22, 2025, United will also start flying a new route connecting San Francisco International Airport (SFO) with San Jose, Costa Rica’s Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO). Simple Flying has covered this in the article below.
