American Airlines is expanding its network out of New York LaGuardia Airport with a couple of domestic flights as well as a connection to Canada. The airline has also added Canada flights from other cities as it looks to attract leisure travelers for flights to the neighboring country in 2025.
More flights to Canada
Those looking to travel to Canada in 2025 will have more options, with American Airlines adding several new routes to the country, including one from New York City’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA). In fact, American will add three new routes from the airport, with two of them to Montana. According to Upgraded Points, LaGuardia will see the following new American Airlines flights from June 7 to August 30, 2025:
- Bozeman, Montana (BZN)
- Calgary, Alberta (YYC)
- Kalispell, Montana (FCA)

As the report points out, these will be once-a-week flights operating on Saturdays only when LaGuardia’s perimeter rule of flights under 1,500 miles is relaxed. The longest of these flights (to Kalispell) will be a little over 2,000 miles.
Along with the Calgary service from LaGuardia, American will also start two other routes to Canada. One of them is from Chicago O’Hare (ORD) to Halifax, Nova Scotia (YHZ), which will be operated from June 21 to October 4, 2025. The other is from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to Quebec City, Quebec (YQB). This will run from August 9 to November 1, 2025.
Upgraded Points also notes that these two services will see American’s Embraer E175 regional jet. In fact, the Dallas- Quebec City flight could likely be American’s longest E175-operated route, taking around 4 hours to complete.

But American’s Canada network will receive a further boost next year. As Ishrion Aviation notes, the carrier will also increase frequency on a couple of Canada-bound flights from Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) in North Carolina as per the following post on X:
Busy season
The United States has been witnessing a massive rush at airports with people traveling in huge numbers for the holiday season. Earlier this month, American Airlines said that it “is ready to close out 2024 by welcoming nearly 12.7 million customers across more than 118,000 flights for winter holiday travel.”
The carrier noted that its travel period runs from December 18, 2024, to January 6, 2025, adding that its most-traveled day will be Friday, December 27. It also said that 1,500 mainline and regional aircraft would travel more than 102 million miles during this time and that 1,074 mainline and regional aircraft were scheduled to be en route at 12:40 p.m. CT on Sunday, December 22, the highest number of flights handled at any given time during the period.

The carrier also looked back at the year gone by at the start of this month and said that it will have flown more than 2.1 million flights across 1.8 billion miles by the end of this year. Simple Flying has analyzed this in detail in the article below.

Looking ahead
Of course, American has plenty lined up for 2025. In addition to the above-mentioned services, the airline will expand its summer network to Europe, including additional routes from the US to the Italian cities of Venice and Naples and a second daily flight to Rome.
American will also have additional daily flights from Dallas-Fort Worth and Miami International to London Heathrow Airport (LHR) and new services between Chicago O’Hare International and Spain’s Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD). American Airlines Adds More Boeing 787-777 Italy Flights For Summer 2025
American Airlines has released details on new summer 2025 services from the US to Naples, Venice and Rome.
In March 2025, American will also resume its daily service from Columbus International Airport to Los Angeles. The carrier analyzed enough demand for this non-stop service and hopes to capitalize on it.
However, the airline will also be
forced to cut some of its long-haul flights
due to the delay in deliveries of its Boeing 787 aircraft. Some of the routes that have been affected temporarily include Miami International Airport (MIA) to Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport (CDG) in May 2025 and the delay in the resumption of the Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) to Paris (CDG) route.
