American Airlines flights across the nation were disrupted Tuesday by a reported technical issue, but the hour-long ground stop has been lifted and flights have resumed at airports, including San Diego International.
The disruption began at 4 a.m. Pacific time on Christmas Eve, one of the busiest travel days of the year.
There were 1,447 delays for flights entering or leaving the U.S. early in the day, with 28 cancellations.
“Our teams are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible, and we apologize to our customers for the inconvenience,” American said in a statement.
The Federal Aviation Administration lifted the ground stop after approximately an hour.
American said in an email that the problem Tuesday morning was caused by a vendor technology issue that “impacted systems needed to release flights.”
