The aircraft, an Embraer 190, was en route from Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, to Grozny, Russia, when it made an emergency landing roughly three kilometers from Aktau.
Preliminary reports suggested the plane may have collided with a flock of birds shortly before the crash.
Meanwhile, Flightradar24 has reported that the aircraft experienced “strong GPS jamming,” which resulted in bad ADS-B data transmission.
