The issues started early Thursday morning, with the cause of the problem identified just before 9 a.m., the carrier said in a post on X. The router causing the problem has been temporarily shut down, according to the company.

The “system malfunction” is expected to impact both domestic and international flights on Thursday, the company said in another post.

While Christmas Day isn’t a public holiday in Japan, the glitch nevertheless comes as many people are taking time off at the end of the year and as the peak winter travel season ramps up.
