Israel’s national carrier El Al for a week suspended flights on the Tel Aviv – Moscow route. This happened after an Embraer plane crashed near the city of Aktau (Kazakhstan) on the morning of December 25, probably as a result of a Russian air defense strike.

El Al announced its decision on Thursday, December 26. According to The Jerusalem Post, in a week “a new assessment of the situation will be carried out” and a decision will be made whether to resume flights to the Russian Federation.

The press service of the largest Israeli airline clarified that it has temporarily canceled flights due to “events in Russian airspace”.

Let us remind you: on the morning of December 25, an Azerbaijan Airlines Embraer E-190 plane, flying from Baku to Grozny, crashed near the Kazakh city of Aktau.

38 passengers died; 29 people survived, including three children.

Soon, Euronews and other media reported that the cause of the crash of the passenger aircraft was a Russian anti-aircraft missile that hit the plane. There were traces of debris on the fuselage.

Azerbaijan Airlines has suspended flights to two Russian cities – Makhachkala and Grozny.

As OBOZ.UA reported, the Azerbaijani parliament demanded an apology and an “adequate response” from the Russian authorities. Mejlis deputy Rasim Musabekov said that all those responsible should be punished and the victims should receive compensation.
