Under the government’s Five Million Tree Planting Program, national airline Maldivian has planted trees in Hulhumale’ Phase 2 yesterday.
Maldivian Managing Director Ibrahim Iyas, Deputy Director Ali Saleem and several employees of the airline joined in the event, alongside senior officials of the Environment Ministry.
At the program launching ceremony Deputy MD Saleem said that the company always participates in events to promote environmental protection. He noted that the company is currently undertaking many efforts for this, such as taking measures to decrease the use of single use plastics.
He said that the aim is to entirely stop the use of plastics.
He further said that while the tree planting program is being initiated in Hulhumale’ Phase 2, the company plans to do this across the country through efforts from their staff stationed in various regions.
Housing Development Corporation also collaborated with Maldivian in the tree planting event.
