“After conducting a comprehensive situation assessment, El Al suspends all of its operations on the Tel Aviv-Moscow route until the end of the winter schedule,” the media quotes the company’s statement.
Initially, on December 26, the airline suspended flights to Russia for a week after the plane crash in Kazakhstan.
On the morning of Dec.25, an Embraer 190 passenger plane of AZAL Airlines crashed in Kazakhstan. At the time of the crash, 67 people were on board. 38 people died in the plane crash.
According to Euronews, Azerbaijan has confirmed that the crash was caused by a Russian missile.
El Al’s decision to suspend flights to Moscow highlights the risks of flying in Russian airspace. The airspace is increasingly congested and complex, with a large number of military and civilian aircraft operating in close proximity.
