Israeli airline El Al has suspended flights from Tel Aviv to Moscow until the end of March 2025. They made the decision after assessing the situation with the Azerbaijan Airlines plane crash in Kazakhstan, reports The Times of Israel.

“After conducting a comprehensive situation assessment, El Al suspends all of its operations on the Tel Aviv-Moscow route until the end of the winter schedule,” the media quotes the company’s statement.

Initially, on December 26, the airline suspended flights to Russia for a week after the plane crash in Kazakhstan.

On the morning of Dec.25, an Embraer 190 passenger plane of AZAL Airlines crashed in Kazakhstan. At the time of the crash, 67 people were on board. 38 people died in the plane crash.

According to Euronews, Azerbaijan has confirmed that the crash was caused by a Russian missile.

El Al’s decision to suspend flights to Moscow highlights the risks of flying in Russian airspace. The airspace is increasingly congested and complex, with a large number of military and civilian aircraft operating in close proximity.
