With over 10 million views, the video amassed various reactions. “Just boarded a @Delta plane from Detroit, and we’re told to deplane because the inspection crew found a slash on the tyre. Luckily was found before takeoff. But this plane just landed fully boarded from another destination. Was the slash missed before that takeoff!!” a user wrote. “All I can ever think of is the Tenerife disaster from 1977 when I see something like this. Absolutely no excuse for this to ever happen or come close to happening,” another user commented.
According to the Independent, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)—in a statement— directed Key Lime Air Flight 563 to hold crossing a runway. “When the Embraer E135 jet proceeded to cross the hold bars, air traffic controllers told the pilots to stop. The jet never crossed the runway edge line,” the statement said.
The incident occurred days after the deadly plane crash in South Korea that killed 179. A Jeju Air flight collided with a wall after landing. Earlier, An Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane crashed in Kazakhstan on December 25, claiming 38 lives.
