Pusser’s Pub. The stunning sands of Long Bay. The legendary still at Callwood. While many travelers use Tortola as a jumping off point for other trips in the BVI, the island has some unique charms — and it’s easier than ever to fly there thanks to American Airlines’ nonstop flights from Miami.
Now, AA is flying five peak-day flights to Tortola, with service on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays for the season.
Of course, it’s also a great way to experience the rest of the BVI, whether you’re taking a Moorings charter around the archipelago or heading for the just-reopened Peter Island.
American is operating the flights on its smaller, Embraer 175 aircraft, part of a broader strategy by the world’s largest airline to connect Miami with harder-to-reach airports like Anguilla and Dominica, among others.
So what about prices?
The three-hour flight has prices for about $861 in January, rates that go down to about $651 in the main cabin, roundtrip, in mid-February.
