SINGAPORE (ANN/THE STRAITS TIMES) – Japanese carriers Japan Airlines (JAL) and All Nippon Airways (ANA) have taken the top two spots in the Asia-Pacific airline punctuality rankings for 2024, according to aviation analytics firm Cirium. This comes as the region experiences a slight overall decline in on-time performance.

JAL achieved an 80.9 per cent on-time performance score, narrowly edging out ANA at 80.62 per cent. Singapore Airlines (SIA) maintained a strong regional presence, securing third place with 78.67 per cent, up from seventh in 2023.

Cirium’s chief marketing officer, Mike Malik, explained that although the overall Asia-Pacific on-time performance decreased by about 1 percent, SIA’s consistent performance allowed it to climb the rankings. SIA also reported a very low cancellation rate of just 0.08 per cent.

Cirium defines on-time performance as arriving or departing within 14 minutes and 59 seconds of the scheduled time.

Globally, Aeromexico was the most punctual airline, while King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh topped the airport rankings. Changi Airport’s on-time performance was 74.95 per cent.
