Aeromexico was recognized as the world’s most punctual airline in 2024, achieving an on-time performance rate of 86.70%, according to Cirium’s annual On-Time Performance Review. The rankings, which assess airlines’ ability to ensure flights arrive within 15 minutes of their scheduled time, place Saudi Arabia’s Saudia in second with 86.35% and Delta Air Lines in third with 83.46%.

Regional Leaders in Airline Punctuality

The report also highlighted the top regional performers:

  • North America: Delta Air Lines maintained its leadership.
  • Asia-Pacific: Japan Airlines led the region.
  • Latin America: Copa Airlines secured its 10th consecutive title.
  • Europe: Iberia Express was named Europe’s most punctual airline and also won the global low-cost category.
  • Middle East and Africa: FlySafair topped the regional charts.

Top Performers in the Airport Category

In the airport category, Riyadh King Khalid International Airport in Saudi Arabia was crowned the world’s most on-time global airport, with an 86.65% on-time departure rate. The airport also won in the ‘Large Airport’ category. Other winners included:

  • Medium Airport: Panama’s Tocumen International Airport.
  • Small Airport: Guayaquil’s Jose Joaquin de Olmedo International Airport.

Cirium’s Platinum Awards for Excellence

Delta Air Lines was honored with Cirium’s Platinum Award for global operational excellence for the fourth consecutive year. This prestigious award measures punctuality and evaluates how airlines manage disruptions and maintain reliability. In the airport category, Colombia’s El Dorado International Airport received Cirium’s inaugural Platinum Award for its operational complexity and exceptional passenger experience.

Industry Recognition

Cirium CEO Jeremy Bowen praised the winners, stating: “In an industry defined by operational complexity, we are extremely proud to celebrate the airlines and airports that have provided customers with the most on-time flights and best performance in 2024, acknowledging their operational excellence.”

Despite challenges such as IT outages and severe weather patterns, Bowen commended airlines and airports for their dedication to ensuring smooth journeys for passengers.
