In a move reinforcing its support for Israel, the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden has notified Congress of a proposed $8 billion arms sale to its Middle Eastern ally.

The proposed deal aims to strengthen Israel‘s long-term security by restocking its critical munitions and air defense systems. The arms package includes a diverse range of weaponry for fighter jets, attack helicopters, and artillery systems.

Among the expected items are AIM-120C-8 medium-range air-to-air missiles, which are important for countering aerial threats such as drones and other advanced airborne systems. The package also features Hellfire AGM-114 missiles, specifically designed for engaging armored vehicles, alongside 155-millimeter artillery shells for long-range targeting and artillery operations. At the same time, the package includes small-diameter bombs and 500-pound warheads, designed for precision strikes in challenging operational environments.
