DENVER (KCTV) – The Kansas City Chiefs arrived at Empower Field at Mile High Stadium Sunday morning and are back on schedule preparing for an afternoon game against the Broncos.

The team arrived in Denver hours later than expected after a delay that caused the team to be stuck on the tarmac as a winter storm moved through Kansas City Saturday afternoon.

The Chiefs planned to leave on a charted United flight long before the storm arrived, but that didn’t happen. The flight was delayed and then KCI Airport closed because of rapid ice accumulation.

United explained what happened in a statement Sunday morning.

The Denver International Airport provided video of the team’s plane landing safely Sunday evening.
