Vietnam Airlines is revolutionizing the passenger experience on its domestic flights by introducing premium economy class across its entire internal network. Starting January 14th, passengers will enjoy an enhanced travel option that bridges the gap between economy and business class.

While the Hanoi-based flag carrier and SkyTeam member has offered premium economy tickets on select domestic routes for nearly six years, this expansion marks a significant milestone in its commitment to providing diverse travel experiences. Passengers opting for premium economy will benefit from improved onboard catering options, greater ticket flexibility, and an upgraded luggage allowance comparable to that of business class travelers.

At the time of launch, premium economy tickets are priced at an additional VND 500,000 ($20) compared to the Economy Flex fare. This pricing positions premium economy as a value-for-money option, offering enhanced comfort and benefits without the premium price tag of business class.

The airline’s fleet is well-suited for this transition, with premium economy seating configurations available on its Airbus A350-900s and Boeing 787-9s. According to aeroLOPA’s fleet data, the Airbus A350-900s feature 36 premium economy seats arranged in a 2-4-2 layout, while the Boeing 787-9s are equipped with 35 seats in a 2-3-2 configuration. These arrangements ensure a spacious and comfortable experience for passengers.
