Two airlines are ringing in the new year by slashing fares, making winter and springtime trips more affordable.

JetBlue and Southwest both launched sales on Tuesday, with one-way flights as low as $49. The Southwest new year sale runs through Jan. 9 and includes travel between Jan. 28 and May 7. The JetBlue big winter sale runs through Jan. 14 and includes travel between Jan. 11 and April 9.

Deals out of Logan Airport on Southwest include one-way $74 flights to Charleston; $79 flights to Chicago and Orlando; $84 to Atlanta; $104 flights to Nashville; $109 flights to San Diego and Baltimore, and more.

Deals on JetBlue include one-way $49 flights to Presque Isle; $59 to Atlanta, Charleston, and Fort Lauderdale; $69 to Chicago and Philadelphia; $79 to Detroit and Savannah; $89 to Grand Cayman and Los Angeles; and more.

The Southwest discounted fares are for Tuesday and Wednesday travel unless otherwise specified. Fares are for nonstop service where indicated. If nonstop service is not indicated, the sale applies to single connecting service.

The JetBlue deals exclude Friday and Sunday travel and are good for the lowest available fare (Blue Basic, otherwise Blue), according to the airline, and is valid on one-way, nonstop tickets — except as otherwise noted.

Prices include government taxes and fees. Seats, days, and markets are limited, and travelers should note blackout dates and other restrictions.
