Alaska Airlines plans to offer its most extensive summer schedule from Anchorage during the northern summer 2025 season, as well as adding a new service to Hawaii.

Starting June 14, the airline will launch weekly, seasonal, nonstop flights from Anchorage Ted Stevens International Airport to Detroit Metropolitan Airport and Sacramento International Airport using Boeing 737-900 aircraft. With these additions, Alaska Airlines will connect Anchorage to 15 destinations.

Additionally, daily nonstop service between Fairbanks International Airport and Portland International Airport will resume on May 15. The route, served by Embraer 175 aircraft, will operate through Aug. 19.

According to data from OAG Schedules Analyser, Alaska Airlines will be the sole operator on the Anchorage-Sacramento and Fairbanks-Portland routes. However, it will face competition from Delta Air Lines on the Anchorage-Detroit route. Delta plans to serve the 2,976-mi. (2,586-nm) route daily from May 23 through Sept. 7.

Sabre Market Intelligence figures highlight strong demand for the Anchorage-Sacramento route, with approximately 30,100 two-way origin and destination passengers traveling between the two cities during the first 11 months of 2024. This made Sacramento the second-largest unserved market from Anchorage, trailing only Spokane with 30,250 passengers.

In addition to its Alaska expansion, Alaska Airlines will launch a new daily service between Ontario International Airport in California and Honolulu Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Hawaii, starting June 12. The route will be operated with 737-9 aircraft.

Hawaiian Airlines, now part of the Alaska Air Group, currently operates the Ontario-Honolulu route with daily service using Airbus A321 aircraft. However, reservations are only open through June 12, signaling that Alaska Airlines will replace the carrier on the sector.

Hawaiian Airlines launched Honolulu-Ontario flights in March 2021, marking its return to the Californian city after an absence of 16 years.
