When you’re going on vacation and have to head to the airport, one of the worst things is when your flight gets delayed or canceled. You have your trip planned out and then all of a sudden things get derailed.

I have two distinct memories of this happening to me. The first one was when my husband and I went to Portugal. Our flight to AND from Portugal was delayed by at least a couple of hours each way.
It was annoying on the way there but not too bad because it was an overnight flight anyway. On the way back it was frustrating because we could have spent so much more time enjoying our last day instead of sitting in the airport.
The second experience for me was flying to Vegas for a bachelorette party. It was an early flight so I was getting ready for bed. Luckily I was up late because all of a sudden our flight got canceled and we had to scramble to figure out how we were going to get there!
Anyway, a delayed or canceled flight can wreak havoc on your travel plans, so it’s nice to know which airlines are typically most reliable and most on time so you can feel confident that there won’t be any snags.
The Most On-Time Airlines in the World From 2024
There recently was some research done by Cirium, an aviation analytics company, to find the most on-time airlines in the entire world. This is based on flight data from the past year.
According to Cirium, the most on-time airline in the world is the Mexican airline Aeromexico. ABC writes that “nearly 87% of Aeromexico flights arrived within 15 minutes of their scheduled arrival” in 2024.
The second most on-time airline is Saudi Arabian airline Saudia. They had 86% of their flights arrive within 15 minutes of scheduled arrival.
Neither of those are based in the US. However, number three IS, plus they are also the biggest airline in Minnesota. The third most on-time airline in the world is Delta.
Even with all of the issues over the summer with the computer outage that canceled TONS of flights, Delta still held a record of 83% of their flights arriving within 15 minutes of their scheduled arrival.
Other US airlines on the list are United Airlines with almost 81% and Alaska Airlines at 79%.
Whenever you travel somewhere, especially somewhere new, there’s likely something that’s going to surprise you. It could be the sights, the food, or how they drive. The same goes for tourists in Minnesota!
