US carrier Spirit Airlines
today confirmed the addition of 24 new routes for this spring. Several of the links are new to the Spirit network, while others are a resumption of services operated in previous years. The majority of the new flights are to Nashville and popular beach destinations, including Florida, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic.
A little beach break
Spirit Airlines is launching three new routes and bringing back even more this spring, primarily to island destinations in the Gulf of Mexico. Flights between Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport
(BWI) and Punta Cana
PUJ) in the Dominican Republic will begin on March 20th, 2024, and operate four times a week through April 8th.

Travelers from Kentucky looking for a coastal getaway will soon be able to book a flight from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport
(SDF)) to Myrtle Beach (MYR) in South Carolina. The link was last served in June 2022 and will operate four times weekly between March 19th and April 7th.
Passengers looking for a domestic Caribbean getaway can take advantage of a new route to San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport
in Puerto Rico. Spirit Airlines will resume flights from Boston Logan International Airport
(BOS) to San Juan with a daily flight between February 12th and March 18th on an Airbus A321neo, seating 176 passengers.
A new nonstop flight from San Antonio
(SAT) to San Juan will run three to four times a week this spring with an Airbus A320neo and face no direct competition. According to the San Antonio Express-News, San Antonio’s Air Service Administrator Jacob Tyler confirmed residents are excited for the new link to begin.
“The ties between our region and Puerto Rico have grown substantially in recent years.
“Establishing nonstop service between San Antonio and San Juan has been a priority.”

Spirit Airlines Will Start Flying From San Antonio, TX To San Juan, PR In March
Yesterday, Express News reported that San Antonio would receive its first non-stop service to San Juan, Puerto Rico, running year-round with frequencies as high as 4x weekly.
The inaugural operation of this route on March 5th as follows:
Departing SAT 16:37 CT and arriving at SJU at 23:37 AT.
The return flight will depart San Juan at 11:12 AT and arrive back in San Antonio at 15:32 CT.
The latest win comes as San Antonio International continues to see strong demand for flights and seats.
Air Service Administrator Jacob Tyler commented, “Establishing nonstop service between San Antonio and San Juan has been a priority.” Seasonally, Spirit will also fly nonstop to New Orleans, Tampa, and Miami during spring break.

Getting bigger in Texas.
Speaking of San Antonio, the airline has also added flights from the Texas city to Miami International Airport
(MIA) for spring break. An Airbus A3321 service will run four times a week between March 5th and 17th. These are in addition to the previously announced flights to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) for Mardi Gras season, which runs between February 20th and March 9th.
Later this spring, the carrier will begin a daily service from San Antonio to Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport
(ATL).

The low-cost carrier has also added flights from the state’s busiest airport, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport
(DFW) to three additional cities. Between March 6 and 21, a daily service with the carrier’s 222-seat Airbus A321 will run to Charlotte (CLT). Two beach destinations in the Florida area are getting new links: Pensacola (PNS) with four weekly flights and Tampa (TPA) with a daily service. Both routes were previously served in 2024 and will run between March 5th and 18th.

Spirit will also add a new route from Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport
(IAH) to Nashville this spring.
More flights to Music City
Tennessee’s Nashville International Airport
(BNA) is welcoming quite a few new links this spring. In addition to the flight from Houston, Spirit is adding two nonstop services to Florida. Flights to Fort Myers (RSW) and Pensacola will run in March. Fort Meyers was previously served by Spirit from Nashville last April.

There will also be one weekly flight from Nashville to Miami, along with a daily service to Boston.

Mardi Gras comes again
In addition to the previously-mentioned flight from San Antonio, Spirit is boosting services to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport
from several cities to meet demand during the city’s famous Mardi Gras celebrations, which conclude on March 4th, 2025, the day before Ash Wednesday.

Additional flights have been scheduled between the Louisiana Airport and Indianapolis (IND), Columbus (CMH), and Memphis (MEM).
Back for another season
A Spirit Airlines spokesperson confirmed to Simple Flying today that several other routes will resume in March. In addition to the previously mentioned links, the carrier will begin flying on the highly competitive route between Atlanta and Chicago O’Hare International Airport
(ORD).
Myrtle Beach will be reconnected to Cleveland (CLE) and Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Connecticut, while Lousiville will see its link to Tampa return for another season.

The remaining resumptions belong to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport
(FLL), which will see flights to Los Angeles (LAX) and Augusto C. Sandino International Airport (MGA) in Managua, Nicaragua.
Speaking exclusively to Simple Flying today, a Spirit Airlines spokesperson confirmed the carrier will be adding flights for Spring Break to the following 14 city pairs this year, including several of the previously-mention routes:
