Starlux Airlines (JX, Taipei Taoyuan) has doubled its order for A350Fs from Airbus, signing a commitment for five more aircraft of the type.
“The cargo market is set to become a key element in our business model and will benefit from the advantages offered by Taiwan’s geographical location,” CEO Glenn Chai said.
The Taiwanese carrier did not disclose the expected delivery timeline. In a stock market filing, it said that the price per unit would not exceed USD313 million, totalling not more than USD1.56 billion for all five aircraft.
Starlux Airlines ordered a first batch of five A350Fs in 2024. It later disclosed that the deliveries are expected to begin in 2027.
The airline’s current fleet comprises thirteen A321-200NX, five A330-900Ns, and eight A350-900s. On top of the freighters, its confirmed order book includes three more A330-900s, two A350-900s, and ten A350-1000s directly from Airbus. Starlux will also add at least six more A321-200NX from lessors.
In addition, Starlux Airlines said it acquired a spare Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engine for the A350-1000 for not more than USD50 million.
