Alaska Airlines is offering new direct flights from Fairbanks and Anchorage to three major American cities later this year.
Starting in May, Alaska Airlines will operate daily flights throughout the summer from Fairbanks International Airport (FAI) and Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) to Portland International Airport (PDX), according to a joint news release from both Alaska-based airports.
“It will now be even easier for visitors to Alaska this summer and start their vacation,” MarilynRomano, regional vice president of Alaska Airlines, said in the release. “And Alaskan’s will enjoy more nonstops to visit family and friends in the Lower 48.”
Additionally, the airline company will begin operating seasonal Saturday flights from ANC to Detroit and Sacramento in June.
“These new routes provide more opportunities for Alaskans to connect with the world and for visitors to experience the beauty of our state,” said Angie Spear, director of the Alaska International Airport System “Alaska Airlines’ commitment to growing its presence in Alaska highlights the importance of our state as a destination and a hub for travel. We are proud to support this expansion and encourage travelers to take advantage of these new options.”
