Alaska Airlines
has shared that it will begin ten new domestic and international routes from various airports across the United States in January, including four new connections from Sacramento, California.

Emphasis on flights to Puerto Vallarta

The carrier will introduce ten new seasonal routes to its network in January. Alaska Airlines detailed that the new itineraries will begin between January 6 and January 25 and end between March 23 and August 9.

Out of the ten, four new routes will begin in Sacramento, connecting the California city with Los Cabos International Airport (SJD), Tucson International Airport (TUS), Orlando International Airport
(MCO), and Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR).

All flights started on January 6, except the new connection between Sacramento International Airport (SMF) and Puerto Vallarta, which launched on January 11. The latter will end on April 19, while the rest will no longer be served as of April 21.

Kansas City International Airport
(MCI) will also get once-per-week seasonal services to Puerto Vallarta, which will begin on January 25. The route will only run until April 5.

As a result, Alaska Airlines is planning to add four new routes from/to Puerto Vallarta. Between January and March, the airline will have no competition on the quartet of itineraries. Starting in March, Southwest Airlines is planning a once-per-week service from Sacramento to Puerto Vallarta.

Except for the four weekly rotations from/to New York-JFK, all Alaska Airlines flights to Puerto Vallarta will be operated once per week, according to the carrier’s announcement.

Other leisure destinations

In addition to the flights from Sacramento and to Puerto Vallarta, Alaska Airlines is launching itineraries from Portland International Airport

until May 14.

Thrice-weekly connections between Boise Airport
(BOI) and Orlando, Florida, began on January 7, with the carrier offering Idahoans easy and direct connections on the route until March 23. A 737 will fly passengers toward Florida, with Alaska Airlines having no competition on the route, according to data from Cirium’s Diio Mi airline planning system.

The once-weekly 737 service has plenty of other offerings, including a once-weekly American Airlines flight (until March) and daily Southwest Airlines operations (reduced to thrice-weekly in August).

Out of all the ten new routes starting in January, only one, between Sacramento and Tuscon, will not be operated by a 737, but Horizon Air’s Embraer E175
.

Marilyn Romano, the Regional Vice President of Alaska at Alaska Airlines, says summer is a tremendous time to visit Alaska, with the state’s long and warm days, culture and adventure, and excellent wild seafood caught locally.

“There’s so much to do around Anchorage, and the city is a perfect jumping-off point to venture out to communities across the state, as well as hopping on a cruise.”

In addition, Hawaiian Airlines’
booking engine showed that from June 12, Alaska Airlines will take over the former’s route from Honolulu Daniel K. Inouye International Airport
(HNL) to Ontario International Airport (ONT). The change was not apparent on the Hawaiian carrier’s website as of January 7.
