The Federal Government has officially approved four airlines as designated carriers for Nigerian pilgrims attending the 2025 Hajj.

In a statement on Sunday, Prof. Abdullahi Usman, Executive Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), announced that the four airlines were selected from the 11 applicants to transport Nigerian pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the Muslim pilgrimage.

The approved airlines are Air Peace Ltd., Fly-Nas (a Saudi Arabia-designated airline), Max Air, and UMZA Aviation Services Ltd.

Usman explained that a 32-member screening committee, established by NAHCON on Nov. 26, 2024, reviewed the applications.

The committee included representatives from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET), and Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), as well as officials from the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), and various NAHCON divisions.

Additionally, three cargo carriers were selected for the Hajj operations: Aglow Aviation Support Services Ltd, Cargozeal Technology Ltd, and Qualla Investment Ltd.

Prof. Usman congratulated the selected companies and urged them to fulfill their commitments. He also signed the 2025 Hajj Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in a ceremony in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, formalizing the Hajj arrangements. Dr. Abdulfatah Masahat, Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, represented Saudi Arabia at the event.
