The Haughton Lady Bucs and Airline Lady Vikings opened District 1-5A play with victories Friday night.

Haughton defeated Natchitoches Central 50-45 in Natchitoches. The Lady Bucs ended the Lady Chiefs’ 16-game winning streak.

Airline routed Byrd 51-14 at Byrd. In the other 1-5A openers, Benton lost to Huntington 77-32 at Benton, and Captain Shreve defeated Evangel Christian 93-5 at Shreve.

In a non-district game, Parkway routed Southwood 69-24 at Parkway. The Lady Panthers open defense of their district championship Tuesday at Huntington.

In other non-district games, Bossier downed Haynesville 61-30 at Bossier, and Providence Classical Academy defeated Glenbrook 41-20 at Glenbrook.

At Natchitoches Central, the Lady Bucs and Lady Chiefs came into the game ranked fourth and fifth, respectively, in the non-select Division I power rankings.

Balanced scoring helped Haughton hand Natchitoches Central (18-2) just its second loss.

Skylar Branch and Shaniya Perkins led the Lady Bucs with 13 points each. Bella Hammond had 12 and Kamyra Turner 10.

Haughton led 11-10 after the first quarter and 24-21 at the half.

The Lady Chiefs cut the lead to 33-32 after three quarters. Haughton got going offensively in the fourth and outscored Natchitoches Central 17-13 to get the victory.

Branch had seven points in the fourth. Turner and Hammond had four each and Perkins had two.

Anna Newton led Natchitoches Central with 25 points but only four of those came in the fourth.

Haughton (21-2) hosts Arcadia in a non-district game Tuesday.

At Airline, Karliyah Woodard led Airline with 15 points. Ke’Zyriah Sykes and Addison McDowell scored 12 each.

The Lady Vikings raced to a 22-5 lead in the first quarter. They led 28-11 at the half.

Byrd dropped to 3-16.

Airline (15-2) visits Evangel Tuesday.

At Parkway, Dakota Howard poured in 27 points to lead the Lady Panthers (17-4). Savannah Wilson had 17. Zara Baker chipped in nine.

Howard scored 14 in the first quarter as the Lady Panthers went on a 28-0 run.

At Benton, Huntington improved to 10-4 against Louisiana teams. Benton dropped to 17-8. The Lady Tigers visit Captain Shreve Tuesday.

At Bossier, the Lady Kats improved to 6-14. Bossier hosts Plain Dealing Tuesday.

At Glenbrook, Providence Classical Academy improved to 11-1. Glenbrook dropped to 0-9.

PCA hosts North Caddo Monday.
