Icelandair and Southwest Airlines have officially signed a partnership agreement, marking Icelandair as Southwest’s first-ever partner airline. The agreement, formalized at the Icelandic Ambassador’s residence in Washington, will go into effect in February and aims to provide passengers with enhanced connectivity across the two airlines’ networks.
As the largest U.S. airline for domestic flights, Southwest Airlines serves a wide range of destinations across the United States, while Icelandair offers access to Iceland and key European destinations. The new collaboration will allow travelers to seamlessly connect between their respective routes.
Initially announced as a partnership through Baltimore-Washington Airport, the collaboration will expand by summer to include connections from Nashville and Denver, offering passengers more options to travel throughout North America, Iceland, and Europe.
