Airline senior Danon Walker won the 215-pound weight class in the 52nd annual Louisiana Classic boys tournament held Thursday through Saturday in Gonzalez.

The tournament generally attracts the top wrestlers in the state across all divisions.

Walker won his first three matches by fall or technical fall. He pinned Ethan Regis of Holy Cross in 55 seconds in the semifinals.

In the championship match, Walker defeated Blake Christian of Tuscaloosa, Ala., County by a technical fall, 24-4.

It was his second Classic title.

Airline senior Michael Finders finished third in the 120-pound class. He pinned his first-round opponent then was pinned by No. 1 seed and eventual champion Alex Rozaz of Teurlings Catholic in the second.

Finders then pinned four straight opponents in the consolation bracket. In the third-place match, he defeated Michael Klein of Holy Cross 19-12.

Benton senior Cooper Reagan finished fourth in the 175-pound class.

He won his first four matches by fall or technical fall. In the semifinals, he lost a tight 7-3 decision to eventual champion Braeden Simoneaux of Teurlings Catholic. Reagan won one match by technical fall in the consolation bracket. He fell to Harris Treuting of Jesuit 4-0 in the third-place match.

Teurlings Catholic won the boys tournament with 257.5 points. Runner-up Jesuit was four points back. Airline finished 21st and Benton 23rd.

Benton sophomore Keira Liesch finished runner-up in the 138-pound class in the second Louisiana Classic girls tournament.

Liesch pinned her first three opponents. She lost to Savannah Camarata of Albany by a 25-13 major decision in the title match.

Benton senior Julia Raymond and sophomore Caylee Brammer posted third-place finishes in the 107- and 120-pound classes, respectively.

Raymond pinned her first two opponents to reach the semifinals where she lost to Lily Velasquez of Lafayette by a technical fall. Raymond pinned her first consolation opponent then pinned Layla Higgins of Riverdale in 4:11 in the third-place match.

Brammer won her first two matches by fall and technical fall. She then lost a tight match to Sophia Jackson of Del City, Okla., SV-1 15-12 in the semifinals. Brammer pinned her first consolation opponent then pinned Bella Carpenter in 2:22 in the third-place match.

Benton freshman Audrina Wade finished fourth in the 132-pound class. She won her first two matches by fall and major decision. In the semifinals, she lost to eventual champion Laken Griffin of Live Oak by fall in 4:17. Wade won her first consolation match 10-4 then fell to Quetzica Guevara-Tapi of Lafayette by fall in 2:24 in the third-place match.

Benton finished fifth with 82 points. Baton Rouge won with 139.
