Louis Armstrong International Airport has updated its list of airlines with flight cancelations that stretch into Wednesday.
Many airlines began canceling flights Monday night, and all of them shut down operations here Tuesday, though the airport remained open.
Airlines were initially expected to resume full service Wednesday, but many will still hold off for at least a portion of the day, as most roads in southeast Louisiana are expected to be unsafe for travel.
Airport spokesperson Erin Burns told WWL-Louisiana that the main considerations are safety and the condition of the runway, but also include the ability of staff and crew to get to the airport. She said airlines are responsible for their own de-icing operations and that, as a southern, warm-weather airport, Louis Armstrong has very limited ability to do any de-icing or plowing to improve conditions.
Below are the airlines with Wednesday cancelations in place as of Tuesday night. Be sure to check with your airlines for final confirmation or check the airport’s website.
