Spirit Airlines has updated its dress code for passengers to include banning any clothing or body art that is “lewd, obscene or offensive in nature.”

The airline released a plethora of regulations on its new contract of carriage document updated Jan. 22 and listed several reasons that a guest would not be permitted to board an aircraft with the airline.

In addition to offensive clothing, passengers could be turned away if they are inadequately clothed, wear see-through clothing, and are not adequately covered. People can also be banned from flying if they have “an offensive odor,” unless its due to a disability, the document states.

Spirit Airlines crop top incident

The updated rules come as two women from Southern California were removed from a Spirit Airlines flight in October 2024 because they were wearing crop tops.
