ATLANTA – For a fourth year in a row, Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines has been named the Wall Street Journal’s top U.S. airline.
The win was Delta’s seventh time in the top spot in eight years.

By the numbers:
The newspaper ranked Delta and eight other major U.S. airlines on metrics like on-time arrivals, flight cancelations, delays, and more.
According to the data, Delta finished first in on-time arrivals and fewest involuntary bumpings. The airline involuntarily bumped just one passenger in all of 2024, instead choosing to lure people to take later flights with money and vouchers.
The airline was second in fewest canceled flights and extreme delays.
The one place that Delta could show improvement was mishandled baggage, which the Wall Street Journal ranked the airline fifth in.
Close behind Delta was Southwest, which was a single point behind.
The lowest ranked airline was Frontier, which finished at the bottom or close to it in almost every category but two, though the newspaper noted it did well with baggage handling.
What they’re saying:
“This honor is a reflection of our people’s dedication to providing safe, reliable service and delivering a premium experience for our customers,” said John Laughter, Delta Chief of Operations. “Every flight, every innovation and every memory we create for our customers is thanks to our team of resilient aviation professionals who constantly strive for excellence. An award is never a finish line in this business. We have our sights set even higher in 2025 and beyond.”
