A Turkish Airlines flight carrying 259 passengers from Entebbe International to Istanbul made an emergency landing at Entebbe international airport on Sunday after it was unable to proceed due to safety precautions.

“Turkish Airlines flight number TK 612, which departed Entebbe International Airport for Istanbul on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at approximately 7:14 am with 259 people on board, was unable to proceed to its final destination due to safety precautions,’’ said a Uganda Civil Aviation Authority statement issued on Sunday morning.

The statement noted that, ‘’the aircraft successfully returned and landed at Entebbe International Airport at 10:50 am after safely circling Ugandan airspace for over three hours in areas of Northern Kampala to reduce fuel to the required safe landing weight.
