For more than 15 years, Canadian carrier Porter Airlines has provided reliable and comfortable services between Canada and the New York metropolitan area. On Monday, the airline announced it was expanding its presence in this major market by launching a new service between Toronto and New York LaGuardia Airport.

A new route for Porter’s Embraer E2 Jets

Porter Airlines (Porter) has announced it is increasing connections between Canada and the New York-New Jersey market. Commencing on May 1, 2025, Porter will operate a year-round service between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and LaGuardia Airport (LGA).

The service will operate three times daily, except on Saturday and Sunday, when it will operate two times daily. It will be flown with Porter’s new-generation 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, providing passengers with an elevated travel experience with no middle seats and free, fast WiFi for everyone.

Passengers who have not traveled through LaGuardia recently will be pleasantly surprised as Porter will be based at the new, award-winning Terminal B, which has undergone a $5.1 billion redevelopment. The Porter service offers three convenient flights to choose from, with departures spread throughout the day. The initial flight schedule will be:

  • Departures from Toronto Pearson at 07:15, 14:50 and 19:25* (not Saturday)
  • Arrivals at LaGuardia at 08:55, 16:30 and 21:05* (not Saturday)
  • Departures from LaGuardia at 06:15* (not Sunday), 09:55 and 17:30
  • Arrivals in Toronto at 07:55* (not Sunday), 11:35 and 19:10.

Plenty of connections from Toronto and New York

The new service offers convenient connections through Toronto Pearson to Porter’s extensive domestic network, including popular destinations such as Vancouver, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Saskatoon and Montréal. Passengers arriving at LaGuardia can connect seamlessly to multiple destinations across the southern US using Porter’s interline agreement with JetBlue.

Andrew Pierce, vice president of network planning and reporting for Porter Airlines, said the airline had built a strong passenger base over more than 15 years for those traveling between Canada and the New York metropolitan area, adding:

“The addition of LaGuardia introduces a new dimension to our network, opening more options for existing customers and the ability to attract new ones within the busiest air corridor connecting Canada and the US.”

The Toronto-LaGuardia route complements Porter’s existing Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) operations. The airline, founded in 2006, has served the New York-New Jersey market since 2008 with flights from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) to Newark. In 2023, Porter expanded its Newark service by adding flights from Ottawa International Airport (YOW), and the combined routing will offer up to 15 daily roundtrips.
