Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — A significant step forward in promoting American Samoa as a unique tourist destination is in the works, and it is intended to also foster economic opportunities for the territory.

The American Samoa Visitors Bureau (ASVB) is forming a collaborative partnership with Hawaiian Airlines to strengthen marketing and promotional initiatives aimed at driving tourism and economic growth in the territory.

This partnership builds upon the recent visit of Hawaiian Airlines CEO Joe Sprague to American Samoa in October, when the airline celebrated 40 years of service between Hawai’i and the territory. During the visit, both ASVB and Hawaiian Airlines identified key areas for collaboration to strengthen their mutual goals of promoting American Samoa as a prime travel destination.

Hawaiian Air’s CEO Joe Sprague stated, “As we reflect on 40 years of service in American Samoa, we remain committed to fostering a strong partnership with the American Samoa Visitors Bureau. Hawaiian Airlines will join and support the ASVB in joint promotional efforts, travel agent familiarization trips, and potential travel support for ASVB initiatives. This aligns with our shared goal of promoting tourism and driving economic growth for American Samoa.”

Taimalelagi Minnie Tuia, Executive Director of the ASVB, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration, saying, “We are delighted with Hawaiian Airlines’ openness to work closely with us on these marketing efforts. We are especially grateful for the assistance they are providing, including support for industry familiarization trips and enabling ASVB’s attendance at key marketing trade shows.”
