From October 2025, Icelandair will commence a brand-new direct service to Miami, Florida, using its latest aircraft, the Airbus A321LR.
Icelandair announced on January 30, 2025, that the popular sunshine city of Miami would become its second destination in Florida after Orlando, with three flights a week scheduled to fly.
Starting on October 25, 2025, and running until March 2026, Icelandair passengers will be able to fly to Miami International Airport (MIA) every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from Keflavik International Airport (KEF) in Reykjavik.
Icelandair’s new service will make MIA the only airport in Florida with nonstop flights to all five Scandinavian countries and Reykjavik will become its 21st European destination.
“We are thrilled to be opening a new gateway from Europe to sunny Florida via Iceland and from Miami to Iceland and beyond. With the new long-range and fuel-efficient Airbus aircraft we are able to add new and exciting destinations and Miami is a great addition. Miami will fit well into our route network, with convenient connections via Iceland to our 34 destinations in Europe. Welcome aboard Miami,” said Bogi Nils Bogason, Icelandair President and CEO.
On December 3, 2024, Icelandair took delivery of its first Airbus aircraft after decades of operating primarily Boeing aircraft.
Since the new Airbus A321LR arrived the aircraft has spent January 2025 operating between Iceland and London-Heathrow Airport (LHR) and Oslo Gardermoen Airport (OSL) in Norway.
Two more A321LRs, leased by SMBC Aviation Capital, are scheduled for delivery before the summer with an additional three set to arrive at a later date.
“I applaud Icelandair for deciding to expand into South Florida with nonstop Reykjavik service at MIA, which will soon give our residents direct access to the majestic natural beauty of Iceland. We look forward to giving Icelandair and their passengers from across Europe a warm welcome to Miami-Dade County,” said Daniella Levine Cava, Miami-Dade County Mayor.
