LATAM Airlines has unveiled plans to build the largest VIP lounge in Latin America at São Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport (GRU).

Approved by Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Secretariat (SAC), the R$115 million ($22 million) project will occupy 4,700 square meters in Terminal 3, the airline’s busiest hub.

Construction is slated to begin in April 2025, marking a significant investment in premium passenger services. The new lounge will showcase LATAM’s modern design concept, first introduced at Santiago International Airport in Chile.

This approach blends contemporary architecture with sustainability and local cultural elements, using South American raw materials while promoting regional talent.

LATAM aims to create a space that combines sophistication with comfort, reflecting its commitment to redefining the travel experience. Paulo Miranda, Vice President of Customers at LATAM Group, emphasized the strategic importance of this development.

He explained that the lounge will elevate LATAM’s reputation as a global leader in premium travel while offering passengers an enhanced experience. “This investment reinforces our dedication to providing a welcoming and representative space for South America,” Miranda said.

LATAM Expands Premium Lounge Experience

Guarulhos Airport serves as a critical hub for LATAM, accounting for nearly half of its operations. In 2024 alone, the airline transported 5.8 million passengers on 26,000 international flights from GRU, setting a record since 2000.

The lounge is expected to further enhance the airport’s role as a key gateway for international travelers. Accessible to LATAM Pass members with Black Signature, Black, or Platinum status and premium cabin passengers on international flights, the lounge will feature high-end amenities.

These include dining areas, relaxation spaces, and workstations. LATAM also plans to expand this concept to Lima (Peru) and Miami (USA) by 2025. This investment highlights LATAM’s commitment to improving customer experiences while strengthening its competitive position in the global aviation market.
