CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – An American Airlines flight had to return to the Charlotte airport for a mechanical issue Saturday.
The airline said flight AA859 with service from Charlotte to Nassau returned to Charlotte-Douglas International Airport shortly after takeoff.
FlightAware data shows the plane took off around 11:30 a.m.
According to American Airlines, the flight landed safely and taxied to the gate under its own power. The aircraft was taken out of service to be inspected by their maintenance team.
Customers boarded a replacement aircraft to continue to Nassau, the airline said.
“We never want to disrupt our customers’ travel plans and apologize for the inconvenience this caused,” an American Airlines spokesperson said.
