Congress leader Priyanka Chaturvedi on Friday criticised low-cost airline SpiceJet for a Holi celebration video it posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

Sharing the video on her own X profile, the Congress Rajya Sabha MP expressed her disapproval, urging the airline to focus on critical aspects such as passenger safety and punctuality, rather than indulging in “live entertainment.”

“How is this okay? Ridiculous levels to gain popularity. Airlines need to work on safety and on-time arrival/departure, not on live entertainment,” she wrote.

The video, shared by SpiceJet on March 14 to mark Holi 2025, has sparked mixed reactions online. It features the airline’s cabin crew dancing to the popular Bollywood song Balam Pichkari inside the aircraft, following a brief moment where air hostesses applied a ‘Holi tika’ on passengers’ foreheads.

The clip drew backlash on Chaturvedi’s post, with some users echoing her concerns.
“Absolute nonsense. Airlines should focus on improving passenger-friendly services. Aircrafts aren’t made for song and dance shows,” one user wrote.

Another commented, “There’s a time and place for entertainment, but an airplane isn’t it. Airlines need to get their priorities straight.”

However, others defended the video, calling it a refreshing change.
“Airline crew members are enjoying, customers are enjoying, people watching the video are enjoying. Why do you have a problem?” a user asked the MP.

“For frequent travelers, this is a welcome break from the usual boring instructions. Even the flight staff seems to be enjoying,” another said.

SpiceJet, while posting the video, had issued a clarification:

“A signature festival, a signature song, and a celebration like no other! Our crew brought Holi to life with an energetic dance, proving that traditions take flight with us.” The airline also noted that the video was filmed on ground with all safety protocols in place.
