A 64-year-old man is dead after a vehicle crash early Saturday morning near Airline Road and Holly Street.

Corpus Christi police officers were dispatched before 7:30 a.m. in reference to a major traffic crash involving a motorcycle, according to a Corpus Christi Police Department news release.

Medics took the 64-year-old driver of the motorcycle to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, a pickup truck, was not injured.

Investigators found the driver of the pickup was traveling west on Holly Road and attempted to turn south onto Airline Road through a yellow flashing turn arrow. The motorcyclist was traveling east on Holly Road through the intersection and was struck by the pickup truck.

It is unknown if the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

The driver of the pickup was not intoxicated, police said. The driver received a citation for failure to yield the right of way at a left turn.

The name of the 64-year-old has not been made known to the public.
