Uganda Airlines is set to launch direct flights between Entebbe International Airport and London Gatwick Airport, marking a significant step in the carrier’s expansion strategy. The inaugural flight is scheduled for May 18, 2025, utilizing the airline’s state-of-the-art Airbus A330-800neo aircraft.
The decision to introduce this new route follows extensive discussions between Uganda Airlines officials and UK aviation authorities. The airline aims to enhance business connections, promote tourism, and provide a seamless link between Uganda and the UK.
Jenifer Bamuturaki, CEO of Uganda Airlines, expressed her enthusiasm about the milestone. “I’m elated and excited to announce the dates for the long-awaited direct flights to London by Uganda Airlines. This route marks the end of our establishment phase and sets us on a course for long-term growth and expansion. It gives me great pleasure that we celebrate our fifth year with this amazing milestone.”
The new service is expected to strengthen ties between the two nations, benefiting travelers looking for more convenient options between East Africa and Europe. Previously, passengers flying between Uganda and the UK had to rely on layovers in other countries. The nonstop route will not only reduce travel time but also enhance trade and tourism opportunities.
Uganda Airlines has been steadily expanding its network since its relaunch in 2019. The addition of London Gatwick marks a major achievement, positioning the airline for further international growth.
