Turkish Airlines has unveiled a new and unexpected destination: Ohrid, North Macedonia. This charming city, nestled on the shores of Lake Ohrid, is now easily accessible through direct flights from Istanbul. Starting from March 30, travelers can take advantage of this new route that connects Istanbul Airport (IST) to Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport (OHD), bringing this UNESCO World Heritage site into the spotlight for international travelers.

This new flight route marks Turkish Airlines’ second destination in North Macedonia, after the capital city of Skopje. The airline’s expanding network now spans 353 destinations worldwide, underscoring its commitment to connecting travelers to diverse and unique locations. Turkish Airlines is known for offering exceptional service, and Ohrid, with its rich history and scenic beauty, promises to be an unforgettable addition to their network.

Flights between Istanbul and Ohrid will operate twice a week, every Monday and Sunday, with flight numbers TK 1009 and TK 1010. The Monday flight, TK 1009, departs from Istanbul at 10:35 AM, arriving in Ohrid at 11:15 AM. The return flight, TK 1010, leaves Ohrid at 12:05 PM, reaching Istanbul at 2:45 PM. In addition, during the summer months, Turkish Airlines will also expand its schedule with flights on Thursdays and Fridays. These flights, numbered TK 1011 and TK 1012, will run from April 3 to October 24, offering more flexibility for travelers looking to explore this hidden gem in North Macedonia.

Ohrid is renowned for its natural beauty and historical significance. The city is often referred to as the “Jerusalem of the Balkans” due to its 365 churches and rich religious history. The UNESCO World Heritage-listed Lake Ohrid is one of Europe’s oldest and deepest lakes, making the region a prime destination for nature lovers, history buffs, and those seeking a tranquil escape.
