Qantas Domestic CEO Markus Svensson expressed pride in the airline’s progress but acknowledged room for growth. “We are pleased that we continued to see year-on-year improvement in our operational performance but there is still more work to do as it’s still not back at the levels that we are targeting,” he said. “We are investing a lot in areas like engineering and efficient boarding processes to further improve our reliability and are working with the broader aviation sector on how we can lift the performance of the industry as a whole.”

Qantas also saw a slight decrease in its cancellation rate, dropping to 3.2% for 2024, from 3.5% in the previous year. As the airline continues to refine its operations, passengers can expect even more reliability and consistency in the years ahead.

If the safe passage of your baggage is also important to you, it’s worth noting that Qantas was the first Australian airline to partner with Apple to facilitate AirTag bag tracking in November 2024.
