TAAG Angola Airlines has taken delivery of its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner, marking a significant step in the carrier’s fleet modernisation strategy.

The aircraft, leased from AerCap, landed in Luanda just days before the flag carrier of Angola commemorates the 50th anniversary of its first Boeing aircraft delivery, a 737-200.

The airline’s new Dreamliner also introduces a refreshed livery and is the first of four fuel-efficient widebody jets set to join the fleet, supporting the airline’s expansion into new markets in Europe, Asia, and North America.

Nelson Pedro Rodrigues de Oliveira, chief executive of TAAG Angola Airlines, said: “This airplane brings the efficiency and versatility we need to meet growing market demands, replace our aging widebody fleet, and deliver a world-class experience to our passengers.”

TAAG Angola Airlines currently operates a fleet of Boeing aircraft, including five 777-300ERs, three 777-200ERs, and seven Next-Generation 737s, serving 12 destinations across Africa, Europe, South America, and China.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is known for its advanced aerodynamics, lightweight composite structure, and fuel efficiency, reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions by up to 25% compared to the aircraft it replaces.
