Korean Air has been crowned the world’s best airline for 2025, dethroning Qatar Airways, according to a ranking by AirlineRatings.com.
The South Korean flag carrier secured the top spot for its passenger comfort, generous meal portions, and spacious economy class seating.

Unlike many competitors that have reduced seat pitch in economy class, Korean Air has maintained a generous 33-34 inch seat pitch on its wide-body aircraft. Passengers also benefit from thoughtful extras like slippers, eye masks, and a choice of Western and Korean meals.
AirlineRatings.com CEO Sharon Petersen praised the airline’s commitment to comfort, saying, “While many airlines have squeezed in a tenth seat per row on 777 aircraft, Korean Air has chosen not to follow this trend.”
How does AirlineRatings.com rank each airline?
The rankings were based on factors such as passenger comfort, safety ratings, product consistency, and financial stability. Airlines had to meet specific requirements, including a minimum economy seat pitch of 31 inches, lie-flat business class beds, and a seven-star safety rating.
Simon Calder, a travel correspondent for The Independent, commented, “It’s good that an airline bold enough to offer more space in economy has been recognised. This is a welcome exception to the gradual ‘densification’ of economy on other airlines.”
