Whether for an organization’s corporate jet or a private owner’s valued possession, a business aircraft’s cabin interior is extremely important, and often, no expense is spared. So, what are the trends in private jet cabin interiors right now?

A flying office

Bombardier’s Global 7500 and Gulfstream’s G650ER are some of the largest private jets with impressively long ranges. They are popular with corporations who need to transport executives efficiently, and time is money. This type of aircraft can configured into a ‘flying office’ with lots of space; meetings can be held around the table space, and large monitors in the cabin can be used for presentations. Specialized lighting systems help passengers combat jet lag. Long-range business jets usually consist of four living spaces, including a principal suite, which can include a permanent bed and stand-up shower.

Spacious living areas

The Airbus ACJ 220 is becoming a popular choice for both company jets and private owners. Its cabin height is 6ft 6″ and the width is 10ft 8″, and it has a range of 12 hours.

Onboard are six cabin zones, which can be organized for business, pleasure, or both. You could have a master suite with a private shower, a boardroom, a private cinema, and a dining room. All are fully customizable as to the client’s wish.

Clean air and entertainment

HEPA filters have been fitted on many business (and commercial) aircraft in recent years, bringing fresh air into the cabin. They also filter out viruses and bacteria and neutralize smells like cigarette smoke. Some new aircraft types have a plasma ionizer, which purifies cabin air and destroys bacteria in the air and on surfaces.

Ka and Ku-band satellite communication systems offer the best inflight connectivity and WiFi. ‘Infotainment’ systems allow passengers to stream movies and music. The cabin ceiling can often be turned into a starry night sky, and films can be projected onto cabin panels.

Second homes

Private owners are making their jets more like second homes, and interior design can be seen on a larger scale with a completely custom-made interior. Soft, contemporary, and fluid shapes are important in today’s world.

Clients ask for long-lasting and beautiful interiors with high-quality materials. With a 24/7 work culture that allows you to work from anywhere, it is essential to have separate areas for work and leisure.

Furnishing and themes

Organic interiors offering comfort and calmness are also popular, using wood, leather, and neutral tones. Vegan upholstery and synthetic leather are popular, too. Onboard artwork is becoming more commonplace. Themes are popular as well, such as the 5-star hotel, the super yacht, or the English gentleman’s club. Underfloor heating and showers are becoming popular features in onboard bathrooms.

Upgrades

Some private owners are upgrading the cockpit with new avionics systems, glass cockpits, and heads-up displays. Cockpit interiors are moving away from the traditional military style to an interior more akin to a luxury car than an aircraft.

Gulfstream has even created a predictive landing performance system to alert pilots of runway excursions.

Sustainability

Sustainability and environmentally friendly aircraft like the Gulfstream G400 and the HondaJet Elite 5 offer sustainable travel. They use less fuel, are very efficient, and have eco-friendly engineering. The G400 also has a clean wing design. The Elite 5 has a slim design and the lowest CO2 emissions in the industry.
