The Libyan Prime Minister, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, discussed with European Council’s President Charles Michel illegal immigration and the lifting of the European Union’s (EU) ban on Libyan airliners.

This discussion came during their meeting at the Council’s headquarters in Brussels on Wednesday, where they discussed a number of political, economic, and security issues, as Michel stressed the need to support the efforts of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya to hold fair and impartial elections.

The meeting followed the results of the technical committees formed by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority, as they came to complete the lifting of the EU ban on Libyan airliners, considering that this step will contribute to stability, development, and support all areas of cooperation between the EU and Libya.

Dbeibah stressed the need to build a strong economic partnership with the EU and its member states to be a basis for stability and investment in Libya, in addition to cooperation in the field of alternative energy production and supplies.
