The Bombardier Global 7500 and the Gulfstream G700 are some of the most modern business jets on the market. Both jets compete directly on several levels: capacity, speed, range, and passenger comfort. While both jets have some of the longest operational ranges, we look at which has the longest range by design. Moreover, other design and performance characteristics are compared.

As evident from the table above, both jets have a maximum capacity of 19 passengers. The Bombardier Global 7500 has a slightly higher fuel capacity and lower MTOW, giving it a design operational range of 7,700 NM (14,260 km). The Gulfstream G700, on the other hand, boasts a marginally greater range at 7,750 NM (14,350 km).

The Global 7500 performed its first flight in November 2016 and entered commercial service in December 2018. According to Bombardier Aerospace,

The aircraft has multiple world records for the highest speeds and longest flights.

The Gulfstream G700, introduced in October 2019 is the stretched version of the iconic G650. The aircraft exceeds the Global 7500 range by just 50 NM, making it the longest-range business jet available today.

Gulfstream offers up to five living areas, including social area, lounge area, and casual space, in the G700 cabin. Moreover, the cabin can be customized to include a private bedroom and shower.

What routes are possible in this range?

With both aircraft ranges nearly equal, some of the longest non-stop routes have become feasible. Los Angeles to Dubai, New York to Cape Town, London to Tokyo, and Miami to Hong Kong are possible without the need for refueling.

Gulfstream’s G700 is based on the lowest cabin altitude, spacious cabin, symmetrical flight deck, and for pure well-being of crew and passengers.

If the existing business aircraft range is not sufficient, the future holds even more. Both North American manufacturers have introduced their respective future business jets with a greater operational range of 8,000 NM (9,200 miles, 15,000 km). The Bombardier Global 8000 is expected to enter commercial service next year. The type is also designed to make the fastest business jet, with a maximum speed of Mach 0.94.

Similarly, the Gulfstream G800, opens new doors with its unmatched range, fuel efficiency, and aerodynamic performance. The aircraft achieves the maximum range of 8,000 NM at cruise speeds of approximately Mach 0.85, and just over 7,000 NM at speeds approaching Mach 0.9. Depending on the customers’ requirements, the aircraft can be configured for maximum speed or maximum range.
