As we move towards the busy summer vacation travel season, we decided to examine Qatar’s national flag carrier, Qatar Airways, and see what routes it will fly in June 2024 with more than 120 million ASMs. At the same time, we will also examine what other airlines it competes with on these popular routes.

ASMs measure a flight’s revenue-generating abilities if you need clarification on available seat miles (ASMs). ASMs refer to the carrying capacity of an aircraft and how many seats on a particular route are available to be purchased. ASMs are calculated by multiplying the number of miles of the route by the number of seats available on the flight.

Hamad International Airport (DOH) is a global hub

Since its founding by the government of Qatar on November 22, 1993, Qatar Airways has been a link between Australasia and South and South East Asia, connecting to Europe and North America through its hub at Hamad International Airport (DOH). Renowned for its world-class service and multilingual cabin crews, Qatar Airways is today one of the globe’s most recognizable brands.

Operating a traditional hub-and-spoke network from its main base at Hamad International Airport (DOH), Qatar Airways flies to 170 international destinations across five continents. Qatar Airways joined the oneworld alliance in 2013 and employs more than 40,000 people. Looking at the information provided by the aviation data and statistics website ch-aviation, Qatar Airways has a fleet of 266 planes made up of the following aircraft:

Qatar Airways offers many flights to India and the US

While Qatar Airways flies to destinations on five continents, India and the United States have the most Qatar Airways destinations. From Hamad International Airport (DOH) in Doha, Qatar, the airline flies to the following 13 destinations in India:

Doha to London

There are 266,609,220 ASMs available each way between Hamad International Airport (DOH) and London Heathrow (LHR). Qatar Airways codeshares on the route with fellow oneworld alliance member British Airways. London to Doha flight time is 7hr 15 mins.

Doha to New York

There are 200,784,800 ASMs available each way between Hamad International Airport (DOH) and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). Qatar Airways codeshares with fellow oneworld alliance member American Airlines between Doha and New York. The flight time between Doha and New York is 14 hrs 15 mins.

Doha to Bangkok

There are 192,442,696 ASMs available on Qatar Airways flights between

Hamad International Airport (DOH) and Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) are in Bangkok, Thailand. On the return leg BKK to DOH, there are 192,245,360 ASMs. On the Doha to Bangkok route, Qatar Airways has no competition when it comes to nonstop flights, but Gulf Air and Air Arabia offer flights with a stopover in Manama, Bahrain, and Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The nonstop flight time between Doha and Bangkok is 6 hrs 55 mins.

Doha to Melbourne

Qatar Airways flights between Hamad International Airport (DOH) and Melbourne Airport (MEL) in Australia offer 157,685,760 ASMs each way. On the Doha to Melbourne route, Qatar Airways is the only competitor when it comes to nonstop flights, although Etihad flies from Doha to Melbourne with a stopover in Abu Dhabi in the UEA. The nonstop flight time between DOH and MEL is 13 hrs 25 mins.

Doha to Denpasar

There are 156,861870 ASMs available each way on Qatar Airways flights from Hamad International Airport (DOH) and I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Denpasar, Indonesia. On the DOH to DPS route, Qatar Airways has no competition from nonstop flights, but flydubai and Emirates offer flights with a stopover at Dubai International Airport (DXB).
